James Drake, a 17th-century English physician and political activist, was renowned for his political perspective. However, his most noteworthy accomplishment was the publication of his medical treatise, "Anthropologia Nova". This work, co-authored by William Cowper, was a revolutionary addition to the medical field. Unlike other medical texts, it presented a theory on how to attain immunity against smallpox. The 1707 first edition of this volume features stunning engravings that intricately depict human anatomy.

Professionally rebound in house.

Includes various drawings and fold out illustrations. Several of the fold outs, being fragile are torn but this doesn't effect the overall illustrations.

Condition: Beautifully rebound in cream aged parchment. New grey endpapers with label to spine. Text is clear, pages intact with the exception of a few pages showing loss to foredge. This doesn't affect the text block. Overall a beautiful binding of this important work.
